OHHhhh! Do you recall that wonderful GELATERIA in Tuscany, next home?! The one we loved when we were kids! The times we have dreamt entering amidst of the night… spooning gelato until we could no more!! 🙂

 

When we created Schokolato, the very first night, we have made our own private tasting. It was turning our child-dream a reality. Incomparable! 😀

Wasn’t also your life in Switzerland less joyful, before Schokolato?! It was for us. No doubt!!
We were never satisfied, less than ever impressed, by what we could find around.

Let it say that, in Italy, there is plenty of good GELATERIA.
And also a number of excellent ones!

Here, in Switzerland, the most notorious player says (in ENGLISH, isn’t that interesting?!) “The Art of Swiss Ice Cream”!
Yet, WE STRONGLY BELIEVE that the REAL GELATO is ONLY the ITALIAN GELATO.

That’s why we say  “Gelato, alles andere ist Glacé”.
We don’t produce “Glacè” (the swiss word for ice-cream), nor “ice-cream”.
We produce Italian Gelato.
The kind that a real connoisseur dies for.

 

There are objective parameters to identify an Italian-quality gelato.
They can be traced back to two major points: low content of fat (which make the gelato a bit colder to the palate, but more digestible) and moderate content of sugar (because you should truly taste the flavours you are eating).

Then subjective parameters come.
Some people like best gelato delivering an immediate aroma, other people prefer persistent flavours.
We like best gelato of the second kind. The one delivering a “memory” of itself.

When we make a gelato at Schokolato, the reference parameter to judge quality is the one of our strict chef. Luckily, almost everybody agrees with him: Schokolato’s gelato is EXCEPTIONAL.

 

 

Might this be the reason why Schokolato has won the “Best of Swiss Gastro” award in 2014, only 6 months after our opening (Coffee category)?! Or the reason why we have won the “Trip Advisor Excellence” award with the stunning average of 5 out of 5 for 3 years running (2015-2016-2017)?! Also our Facebook friends love us! The best thing you could do? Come and try yourself! We make ITALIAN GELATO! 😀
